emptyvessel - who is we?

emptyvessel - a Scotsman who finally found the place he belonged, on the South Island of Aotearoa/New Zealand. The handsome chap on the right is my studio assistant Finnegan, our rescued feral kitten. Programming and using synths since the 80s, my first being a Yamaha DX21 & Siel Opera6, a nice combo of quirky Italian analogue poly and classic crunchy FM which really triggered a lifelong love of exploring deep, digital synthesis.

I consult to and create factory presets & sound content for a range of manufacturers including:

Novation, Arturia, Unfiltered Audio, Kilohearts, Rhizomatic, Tritik, Xils, TAL, AEModular.

as well as doing bespoke sound design to order for projects with musician, composer and ex Tangerine Dream member, Paul Haslinger who said:

Obsessed with imperfection and tiny details and artefacts that, possibly, nobody hears. I use analog tape, vintage  and modern samplers and some carefully selected software tools to introduce dust, texture, life, breath and decay into the sounds. I create dusty, dark, intricate, melancholic, living sounds useful in a range of musical genres and soundtrack work.
